Baylor commits in zero week

Zero week brought all but one Baylor commit game action.

Smith destroyed Denison

KJ Smith destroyed Denison in a 45-9 win and is BearsTruth.com's player of the week. The 6'2 245 DE from Frisco Centennial had 5 sacks, 6 tackles, 3 for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 5 hurries. That type of dominance could push his ranking higher now that the pads have come on.

Wesley Harris and Robbie Rhodes needed a comeback to beat Cleburne 42-36. Rhodes had 6 receptions for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns of 60, 32, and 30 yards.

Harris was 17 of 32 for 302 yards and 5 touchdowns (2,1, 30, 60, 32), and 2 interceptions. He then had 132 yards on the ground in 12 carries.

Future Bear QB Chris Johnson had a nice night versus Midway, but had little help in the 34-7 loss. Johnson was under constant pressure from the 4A state finalists but completed 15 of 26 for 171 yards and 1 touchdown of 47 yards. He also had 11 rushes for 41 yards.

Quan Jones had 4 receptions for 67 yards in a 52-21 victory.

Kyle Fulks burned Klein for a 53 yard touchdown in his 58 yards on 2 receptions during the blowout 48-7 victory.

Johnny Jefferson was a one man gang versus University, but his 128 yards on 22 carries, 69 yards receiving, and 3 touchdowns came up short for Shoemaker.

Raaquan Davis and Rockwall-Heath defeated Naaman Forest 37-28.

Harris put up great numbers

Taion Sells had 5 tackles in MacArthur's 55-26 victory over Richardson.

DJ Green and Mesquite Horn turned back McKinney Boyd 38-20. Green had 9 tackles in the game.

Future S/OLB Travon Blanchard had 7 tackles in West-Orange Stark's 18-0 shutout of Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

Austin Jupe played safety and corner while matching up with one of the state's top returning receivers and held him out of the end zone in a 31-10 win over SA Jay.

Xavier Phillips opened up a can versus Brownwood with 8 tackles, 3 for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble in the 31-7 win.

Byron Bonds controlled the Southlake Carrol line of scrimmage and helped shutout the Dragons in a 24-0 win. Bonds recovered a fumble after pressuring Kenny Hill all night.

Tanner Thrift and Hutto only allowed 39 yards on 22 carries in a 35-14 win over LBJ.

Alfred Pullom and Cy Woods dropped their first game 35-14 despite Pullom's line of 7 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

Phillips worked Brownwood over

Gus Penning and Riverside came up short versus Ventura 28-27.

Simo Kulmavilta and Chabot dropped a 20-28 game against Delta College.

Darius Moore had a bye and will start next week.
