    • I'd prefer to be his first choice too, but if he's good enough for an offer at kicker, it's our gain and their loss. Plus, there's a good chance he'll come in with a chip on his shoulder, which is always good.

    • We recently offered, right? Hard as it may be to believe, not every kid out there grew up a Baylor fan. Maybe they need time to sort through the options. I think everyone is pretty happy with JT Jefferson, and he was committed to A&M first. Also, he said he wants to play wide receiver and Tech says they will give him a shot, but Baylor says only kicker.

    • At least we are being honest with the kid. We will see how much he wants to be a WR. If he goes to SFA or such he really wants to catch the ball. Can't blame the kid. 4.5 is fast but WR is one position we are STACKED at.

I can guarantee you that few if any of our current class "grew up Baylor fans" but they have bought in as if they did. He'll have to change his tune if he commits to us otherwise he won't fit in with his new teammates. From watching Kaz's videos and hearing our guys talk, gone are the days of guys being here because it's all they could get. They've bought in. Being aloof about Baylor and longing for another school won't fly at Highers even for a kicker.

If he signs with us he's going to have to change his mindset real quick.

I have no problem with the fact the he grew up an aggie fan and wants to go there. I just think when you're doing an interview with someone from a Baylor recruiting site, you might not want to make Baylor seem like your third best option.

    • For a kicker to get a offer from a BSC school he is extremely fortunate. If he turns down a BU scholarship to walk on at aggy he truly belongs there. I don't see the harm in telling a kid they will give him a look at WR, but we are recruiting you primarily as a kicker Tech is obviously telling him what he wants to hear. Unless he's the reincarnation of Welker or Amendola, he doesn't have a snowball's chance of playing WR against the likes of Robbie Rhodes or Corey Coleman.

    • I grew up a UT fan and now can't stand UT. I visited the Baylor and UT campuses and quickly decided that Baylor was where I wanted to go. Things change and at least the kid is being honest in his interview.

    • During our senior year in high school, there are probably lots of us on this board that didn't really know with certainty where we would end up going to college. Despite the fact that several members of my family were Baylor alums, I considered several schools. In fact I didn't really decide on Baylor until late in my senior year. In fact if asked during my junior year of high school, I probably would have said I'd end up at Texas. That would have been the default answer. But it would have been just that, the default.

In high school I didn't follow Baylor football at all. If anything I followed the Longhorns because .... well ..... that's pretty much what everybody did.

I lucked out. I made the right choice. Now I can't stand the Longhorns.

This kid is probably like a lot of us were back then . If he comes to Baylor and it's his second choice that's OK. He'll end up loving Baylor.

If that is what they say, better to have that in there than pump him as the next BU commit and it not happen when he's weighing options.

I truly don't know whether you were agreeing with me or trying to argue.
The kid has not committed to us nor given any indication that he will still be longing for another school if he does commit.
My point was, it is early in the process for him, and how he feels about the each school now may have no bearing on how he feels when he decides.
