From now on I am only referring to Brian as "Big Cat". Seriously, man, you have got to quit your day job, no matter how much coin you are pulling and start the next competitor to ESPN. I say we call it BSPN. Dang, this is good stuff. I hope this happens. I hope 45% of this happens. Keep it coming.

Good stuff Brian. I'll shut up about MD as I seem to be defending them in every thread. But MD is viewed as second or third in their own state? What does that mean? Meaning the Redskins / Ravens are more popular? If that's true, you could say the same thing about a ton of other "desirable" schools. I think all NFL teams are more popular than a college team in the same area.
Not sure why I keep defending this as I think MD is far more likely to stay put or go B1G than go to the Big 12.

Conference partners are like housing...location, location, location. Please, for the love of God, someone call Miami and remind them they were once great (in all they really arent much different than the position Ag holds) so we can road trip to Miami.
Seriously though, someone mentioned NC vs NCState. The running joke in that area is that if you cant get in to college you can always go to State. Duke and Carolina are a different stratosphere academically than NC State.

Im not really sure they should because we are talking about athletic conferences. I was merely pointing out that there is a big difference between 2 of those schools. I think you're in Charlotte so you already know that.

There is no question NC State is the weak stepchild to UNC...far more so than Aggy to UT. It will be interesting to see how the ACC charter members try to survive when Clemson goes Big 12. Many think UNC/Duke will never separate. I call BS. They can play home/home every year in hoops and keep that rivalry...they don't need to be in the same league.

Could be wrong but I thought they had 2 NC's in MBB. Regardless, Gottfried is looking like a great hire for them.

NC State won hoops titles in '74 and '83. They are still a sad stepchild. Their campus sux in the worst way. Their athletics facilities aren't on campus. And being so close to both UNC and Duke, their defensiveness is on red alert perpetually. They have great fans though and badly want to compete athletically.

That's really the Ag comparison I was making. I think we are kind of on the same page on this one. You know, minus the "Great fans" part.
NC State wouldnt be that bad it's just that they are so close to UNC and Duke. It's like having a 500k home in a neighborhood where the other houses are 2M. It isnt that yours isnt nice...but when you look around it's pretty crappy ;)

Please let there be no "Duke to the Big 12" rumors. I don't think I could take the flopping 2x a year plus in the conference tournament.

NC State is pretty much East Carolina with better hoops and ACC history.

50k ECU vs 56k NC State
Not advocating for ECU by any means but trying to tap the brake on NC St.
