  • James sounds like a really solid young man. He seems to be trying real hard to keep his feet on solid ground, and that is not easy with everybody telling you how great you are. I hope that he can stay humble and keep working and keep that great attitude. Good work on the interview.

  • I say sign him now! I contrast his interview with those of some of the players who take a "dig me" approach and its pretty refreshing. Agree with those who say he's looking for that A&M offer, though.

If we are successful in recruiting 2 of his current teammates we'll have a good shot at him, no matter how highly rated he is when the stars come out.

True. And it happened to Auburn and Tennessee after recent or very recent national titles. Arkansas took a nose dive really quickly too. I forgot about Ole Miss's recruiting class. It will be interesting to see how well that class translates to wins.

I'll be pulling for them to shake things up over there that's for sure.

I am working in Montgomery, AL. This is Tide and Tiger country. Auburn won't be down for long either. They had a top 5 recruiting class, then Chizik left, they dropped out of the top 20. They brought in Malzahn and finished back in the top 10. They played a ton of young guys last year. They could get really good, really quickly.

or they could fall off since Malzahn didn't really light the world on fire after Cam or at Arkansas State.

Unfortunately I don't see them really ever bottoming out like that. The current SEC schedule allows for 4 cupcakes then you play at most 3 top end teams. In their case last year LSU and Bama in division and UF out of division. That's 7 then the rest of the schedule is filled out by

Auburn - terrible Miss - lol Miss st - edge of ranked but their best win is usually someone like Kentucky or LA tech Arkansas - really bad right now Mizzou- fell off the map and no end in sight with Texas drying up

Then alternate in Vandy, Tennesee, Kentucky for Mizzou and USC & UGA for Florida and its smooth sailing with only 3 real loseable games on the schedule.

It's like that for each team and if you're at the top that's one less good team bc you don't play yourself. Someone like Georgia may only play 2 ranked teams all year whereas in the Big 12 you may face 5 or 6 ranked teams.

    The myth of the SEC....

This is a very astute perspective on the reality of the scheduling genius behind the sec "success".

great interview - mature sounding young man.
