Yes, we're all upset after Wednesday's game and I questioned myself for driving down to the game when I got home late that night. I was watching Inside Baylor Sports yesterday and my 6-yr old son was in the room with me, occasionally paying attention to the highlights of our wins at aggy & OSU. He stopped down at one point, looked at me and asked, "Does Baylor win every game?". He's been fed a steady diet of wins in Football, MBB, & WBB (although he's still confused as to why girls play basketball) this year. In years past, I would have immediately said, "Of course not"...but I had to regroup and reply, "Pretty much." Thinking about the effect of our success this year is having on the younger generations is pretty mind blowing.
Point is, it's easy to focus on the warts our teams have and we can nitpick them to death, but 10 wins in football and 20+ wins so far by our hoops teams is incredible. Let's not a horrible game completely diminish what's been accomplished so far...there's a lot of basketball left to be played and who knows what will happen. A lot of us (myself included) love to drop the hammer on our players and coaches when we lose, but only losing 6 times out of 61 tries is incredible.

good perspective, hubbs. not that there arent vast improvements that need to be made on both of our revenue sports' men's teams, but just think of the generation of Baylor fans that were lost during the 15 or so years prior to now. lots of Bear legacies wanted nothing to do w/ Baylor b/c the overall college experience was lacking due to our athletics being so subpar. i completely understand that sports aren't the end-all, be-all for everyone, but you cannot dispute that having good football and basketball teams makes campus life so much more fun!

I'm beginning to think that the reason that there are disagreements and arguments on these message boards can be attributed to communicating via computer and not face to face. I would bet that many of us would be on the same page if we spoke in person.
For instance, see above. I can't imagine that Metz really believes that our Men's basketball team needs "vast" improvements. I believe a team like Texas Tech or OSU, etc. need "vast" improvements. I don't consider top 10 - 15 teams in need of "vast" improvements. I think what he really means to say is that this team isn't perfect, but it comes across as more harsh.
This is at least what I'm telling myself as I read critical after critical post of arguably the best team in Baylor basketball history.
