  • it's nice to see our names at the top of any poll, but, as i posted in another thread, i try and stick by what USA Today and Baseball America say.

to have a season though, where you're ranked in the top 5 by just about every publication out there, and #1 in at least one, is absolutely incredible. especially when you think back that we were picked to finish in the 2nd half of the conference prior to the season.

thank goodness that that beaver wandered into our parking lot, and that X-factor started listening to games on his BOSE iPod dock!

    BA #3

    Yup, and USA Today #4.

  • co-#1 with Kentucky in Collegiate Baseball
    #3 in Baseball America
    #3 in Perfect Game
    #4 in USA Today

this is kind of ironic, IMO, because historically Baseball America has had the highest view of Baylor/Steve Smith with Collegiate Baseball frequently ranking us 2-4 spots lower. Interesting in that after 15+ years of that phenomenon, Collegiate Baseball is the first to rank Baylor baseball #1.

Seems like Baseball America sticks closer to its preconceived notions on how teams should be ranked. In other words, a 5-0 week results in big movements in most of the polls, but with Baseball America, not so much.

i think that the lack of movement had to do with the fact that the teams above us had really good weeks also. once you break into the top 10, it's tough to make too many BIG upward moves unless the teams above you struggle.
