Baylor/Kentucky

First off, I really like Shaka Smart. Brilliant mind and articulate....he's a natural on tv as well. But he thinks Baylor can beat Kentucky. He says our size and athleticism are one of very few in the country that can match them. Thinks our "x" factor will be PJack. Seth Davis, after picking us to lose in the first round kinda agreed with him, but threw the word "luck" in there. VCU is fortunate to have Shaka. He could probably coach anywhere he wanted, Illinois for example. This is the first time I've heard him speak for any length of time. Very impressed.

The more, the better. Our guys love to prove critics wrong. But, regardless of the outcome, I think it's fair to say this basketball season has been a success.

Davis and Bilas have been very unimpressed with how we play all season. Not surprised they'd dump on us going into the Kentucky game. Best way to change their minds and shut 'em up is to win.

I like being the underdog. Nothing wrong with that.
IMO we have yet to play like we are capable of playing. I'm just hoping that we get a game where everyone is playing their best. Can you imagine what this team would be like if everyone had a game like Heslip did against Colorado?
Most of you are probably too young to remember but when U of Houston (Phi Slamma Jamma) played, I believe it was Louisville, in the National Semifinal they absolutely put on a clinic. Louisville was completely overmatched. It looked like the Globetrotters against the Washington Federals. I want that game.

I agree. 30 wins = a great season. Now I hope they close it out right and win 3 more.

Bottom line, we'll have to play nearly perfect.
I think we should mainly go man, but I also think we need to change things up pretty regularly. Plus, transition defense will be critical.
Kentucky's defense is not particularly good, but as you saw yesterday - their offense is pretty unreal.

This is incorrect. We played man the first 16 minutes of the game last night. Those were our best minutes of the game. At the 4 minute mark we switched to zone. That coupled with AJ Walton horrific play, allowed Xavier to get right back in the game. Walton has no business playing any more. I just finished rewatching the 1st half and I'm starting to wonder if he is point shaving. He single handedly pisssed away our lead with bad shots, horrible passing and idiotic fouls.

I say mix it up. Keep Kentucky guessing as much as possible. We're not going to shut them down on defense, but if we discombobulate them enough and we're on fire offensively, then we'll have a real shot.

What would be great is if you could express your opinions and insight (I generally enjoy them) without your insults and personal attacks. Point shaving? About a guy who, along with Acy, is as good of a locker room guy as we have on the team? Sickening.
