What's wrong with a riverboat?

If I recall correctly, someone on this board spoke about the apartment complex next to Robinson Tower being torn down and a new development there. I have also heard that the beer distributor has an agreement with the city to move to allow development on the river. If those two thing happen, then the river will be developed from Washington to La Salle.
And I am all for a riverboat if it is done right.

DIdn't I read that they're instituting a 5 MPH speed limit on Lake Brazos? If so, that eliminates a bunch of recreational boating that doesn't include a trolling motor.

I agree that it needs to be well done, but I think a riverboat is great...gives more people access to the river, and different ways to take in all that is being added along the river. However, if it wants to head downstream, not sure how the footbridge to the stadium will be high enough to allow the riverboat to pass.

They're not talking about recreational motorboats. They want kayakers, paddle boards, and rowing shells on the river. Not motorboats. I'd be surprised if the city OK'd a riverboat like the Belle. The last time it didn't end well, and once it's novelty wears off, you run a great risk of, again, having a boat rotting in the river right on 35.

When Waco hosts regattas, is it going to stick out enough to provide further hinderance and take up possible lanes. There's great potential on the Brazos for Waco, and I'm afraid they're going to get too cute and end up creating problems rather than optimizing the resource. It can turn into a carnival mess if they're not careful.

There is a speed limit as soon as you cross under the I-35 bridge, everyone knew not to haul as past that point. Everywhere else just go a safe speed. They are not going to institute a lake wide speed limit lower than 35-40 mph. People that live far up on the water would be able to ski anymore. I do think there will be some as you get towards the stadium though which is a good thing. Don't want a bunch of people hauling ass in that area.

Most of the boats are going to be pontoons or ski boats. There will not be any big cigarette boats out there. We used to watch the July 4th fireworks from our boat and there were are ton of boats in the water near downtown. It was kind of what I imagine the sailgating will be like. People anchoring in the lagoon or tied up together along the banks.
