Who's actually bringing a boat each week?
Also, does anyone want to start a wakeboard / party day on the Friday before followed by a tailgate starting that Friday night? We wakeboarded each summer back in the good old days and had a blast, would be fun to get people out there again for some of that.
Finally, does anyone know the depths around the marina/stadium? I'm looking at a 330 Formula and wasn't sure if the marina, docking, etc. will be able to accommodate the size. Backup plan is a Malibu X-80 or our current 270 Crownline.
I don't have a boat, but count me in! Haha
Seriously though I'll probably cruise around in a kayak once the stadium is up and tailgate on the opposite bank somewhere.
If anyone wants to put in and tailgate this season just to see how it is that would be cool to get a report.
The BU ski team used to practice in the "marina" area back in the day. The marina on campus will hold the 330.
The best boat is someone else's boat. I know this from vast experience.
Is the only launch ramp down by Cameron Park?
Launch by the football facility
On game day that is going to be a total disaster. Would be a million times easier to go the Park and boat over, also much easier to leave the game when you are all done.
If I were local I would be all kinds of in.
I was just talking about needing to get in to check the water levels.
This will be one of my favorite things about this stadium - ability to sailgate.
I predict there will be a good number of people who stay out in their boats during the game bc sailgating is going to be so awesome.
I hope we have butts in seats. This has great potential for a fantastic atmosphere, but I can see our fanbase deciding to take a last minute tour of Armstrong Browning Library; making sailgating the "event" and not the football game; helping Molly organize her dorm room instead of coming to the game that they have tickets for, etc...
Let's get Ms. Budweiser down there and have boat drag races on the river each gameday! Talk about getting "Joe Waco" back involved with the gameday experience...it would certainly not lack as far as being a spectacle!
Well we won't have a problem with a crowd the first couple years. I'm thinking once the new wears off there will be people who make sailgating the big event. Which is ok I think overall bc they're helping the overall atmosphere. Not enough to really make an noticeable impact on the crowd but there are people now that have a ticket for the game and just hang out in the tailgate lot. Some of them are my friends lol
There's a new culture being built... A culture of winning. I think/'hope that once the new wears off the stadium, there will be enough recent history that excitement levels around Baylor football will be at a place we haven't seen in a long time. Hopefully that will help minimize the people who show up for t/sailgating as the actual event, instead of the game.
And good lord, who would choose a tour of the Armstrong Browning Library over the football game? Don't get me wrong, the library is gorgeous, and I'd love to take a tour of it... Sometime when there's no football game being played.
i was all kinds of fired up about "sailgating" when we first announced the stadium was going to be on the river. the group that I tailgate with even started to kick around the idea of going in on a boat, so we could tailgate on the water. my thoughts have changed, quite a bit, on this recently. while a lot of games would be great sailgating, the 2009 Kent St, 2010, KState, 2010 agsy, 2011 UT, 2011 Tech (i know it was at Cowboys' Stadium) games (and others like them that escape my mind right now) keep reminding me that there are going to be a handful of home dates, every year, where you're not going to want to have any part of tailgating ON the water.
