Brian/Ashley, I thought this thread warranted its own Topic... feel free to delete if needed.
Just an FYI... for those of you that remember Cory "Caseman" Case from BaylorFans so many years ago... he passed away from cancer a few years back. His scholarship is in need of about $1000 more to be funded and his name kept on it as an endowed scholarship. The urgency is that endowed scholarships have to be "funded" within 5 years of their creation, and right now the fund is coming up on 5 years and is $1000 short of the $25,000 minimum.
If you have a few extra bucks, please go to http://www.baylor.edu/give search cory case and donate $10 or more online! 100 people donating $10 would get his name forever etched in Baylor.
UPDATE: Several People made donations Thursday and have not been processed yet. I will get a total on Monday.

Also, for those who have been following my posts here and elsewhere over the years, the Larry Richardson Endowed Scholarship met its requirement last month and is now minimally funded. Thanks to all that contributed!
Mark and Brian have really done a great job on seeing this through.
In honor of the tireless and largely anonymous work of those two, I will match any bearstruth member donation made by Sunday up to $500.
So post an amount, or if you're modest, pm the amount to Mark or Brian and they can post it as anonymous.
Speaking to Ashley's advice to the new Baylor student in the other thread... Baylor meant way more to me than grades and a sheepskin. The people I met, including Cory (who believe it or not I never met in person) have left a lasting impression that has helped guide my life in a positive manner. If I can honor his memory, I am going to do it.
Thanks for the match!
Just made a $10.00 donation. RIP Cory. I have a feeling that somewhere right now you are smiling knowing that both the Pirates and Nationals are doing great this year.

Cory was battling cancer when Nick Florence was playing at South Garland. I watched several SG games with Cory and our dads over those 3 years. Nothing would make Cory happier than seeing Florence lead Baylor to another great year.
I just gave $20. really enjoyed getting to 'know' caseman on BF. he was a great dude that loved Baylor and I think its great that you guys are seeing this through. That's a great tribute. Roughneck, awesome gesture.
How does an endowed scholarship work? You fund it once for $25K and then how does it provide a scholarship in subsequent years? How is it "re-funded"?
This is awesome! Cory was a good dude.
I think the actual scholarship is just interest so that the endowed scholarship can be awarded in perpetuity. So if it's endowed for $25k it'd probably like a $1000/yr or something like that. Is that close to being right?
I am curious with Interest rates dipping if they had trouble with these. I believe now the minimum for a named Endowment is $50,000. I wish I could have added more, but I donated $25 yesterday.
You guys are mostly right. The minimum now is 50,000, but for Cory's it was 25,000 minimum. 25,000 makes it a deliverable scholarship worth somewhere in the range of 4-600 dollars a year to a student. If next year donations continue and the endowed scholarship has 35,000, then the award will be 7-800 dollars, etc. If we ever were blessed enough to get it up to 600-700k we could fund a full ride.
It's going to continue to grow. Both of them.
I said on the other thread I would donate. I'll write a check for $100 if it will be matched by roughneck. Just tell me what to do with that check and I'll have it in the mail Monday. I miss caseman

Good stuff. One of the unique things about BearsTruth is its the best Baylor athletic site on the web, and so much more.
I contributed $25 this morning. This will be a great tribute to Cory.
Already up to $170 and its only Friday.
Thank you to Brenden, Willis, Bears131, Wooldogg, and CammoTX
Willis if you want to PM me your address I would be glad to put in the mail to you a donor card and envelope that you can put your check in. Makes it easy. Just have to write the check.
Cory was my roommate at Baylor and a true friend. Cory was more comfortable in his own skin that just about any human I have ever known. I don't know if I can give a higher compliment to someone. I miss him greatly and think of him often. Cory was a bit of a prodigy and his graduation from Baylor was a tremendous source of pride for his immediate and extended family. This scholarship means the world to them. Everyone's help in making it happen means the world to me.
You guys generosity has me feeling a bit like this:
Chris asks Paul a final question...
You havn't lived until you've seen Cory Karaoke-Rap.
I'm pretty sure his Thriller dance is still out there.
National Merit Scholar, loved his Pirates, Rangers, Mavs, and Bears. Hated the Spurs and Ags. I have a pic of us tearing down crawfish in a backyard party in Galveston. We've both got these wtf conversation faces going on.
At a biker bar, no less
That wasn't a biker bar, it was a dive in the middle of nowhere, but not a biker bar.
you're good people roughneck

That was a great night. At least what I remember. It gets a little hazy.
Up to $190
I think it's more than that. Check with atex.
We are in fact confirmed at 450 already donated based on this thread alone. I have also confirmed that based on the match of two additional silent donors on here, when the "match" comes from employer matching programs, we should be over $25,000.
I want to thank every one of you.
