to Kentucky. Glad he's not playing in the Big 12
That recruiting class is absolutely SICK! Don't we have to play them next year in Dallas? Yikes.......
If Noel is the only one to go...here's a little bit of their 13-14 roster according to ESPN recruiting rankings.
Kyle Wiltjer (#5 PF in nation)
Ryan Harrow (#8 PG in nation)
Alex Poythress (#3 SF in nation)
Archie Goodwin (#4 SG in nation)
Willie Cauley-Stein (#11 C in nation)
Julius Randle (#1 PF in nation)
Aaron Harrison (#1 SG in nation)
Andrew Harrison (#1 PG in nation)
Dakari Johnson (#1 C in nation)
James Young (#3 SF in nation)
Marcus Lee (#9 PF in nation)
How in the world are there enough minutes/shots to go around?
Has to beat the Fab Five on paper. They should just film this doc now because it should be fascinating to see Calipari try to manage that team. Pretty amazing.
I think Poythress, Goodwin, and WCS all go. Harrow won't see the floor if he stays.
Does Cal have a bit of a roster issue brewing? He's taking this class based on the assumption he would have all sorts of 1 and dones, but they severely underachieved. Assuming Goodwin decides to go (which I'm sure he'll be 'encouraged to):
they have 3 1st round projections - Noel, Cauley-Stein, Goodwin (late 1). They have 2 seniors. They have 5 signed LOI and 2 verbals.
not saying he won't 'find' a couple of spots, but damn. Guess we'll find out if the McDAA allstar team can compete in the NCAAs.
Goodwin, Poythress, and WCS have all said they are coming back. I don't see how it can work...
I guess they would go:
Then bring in Poythress at PF, Young at SF or SG, Johnson at C, and Harrow at PG off the bench. Small minutes for everyone else from what I know about these players. I get wanting to play with other elite players but this is over the top. I don't get it.
You watch, there will be a sudden rash of transfers as Cal does his best Nick Saban impression to make room for this new group.
Goooood lorddddd KENTUCKY
I'm not even sure that Calipari will care enough about this team to peel paint off the wall. I think his attitude will be, "hey guys, just email me if you decide to turn pro. We'll be seeing ya..."
I bet Wiltjer is transferring asap
Recruitment for wiltjer and poythress just opened back up is what this means

it is interesting, you wonder if Calipari makes one more run next year and then calls it quits if he wins it all. They should be able to win it all next year. Any win with less than a 30 point margin will be underachieving with that kind of compilation of talent. Could be setting up for some disappointments. Could be fantastic. Will definitely be interesting to watch.
There will be disappointment in Dallas when a double digit underdog Baylor teams beat Kentucky for the second year in a row........Seriously though, depending on who stays, they could have a ridiculous amount of talent. It's almost like, you 5 play this 10 min, you 5 play the next 10 min. Ridiculous!
it usually works out well
The talent will be ridiculous, but you wonder how they'll gel and what kind of a rythm they can get in as the season goes along. I'd love to have this problem, but I think it could go either way depending on their ability to play as a team. Say what you will about last years Kentucky team, but they played very well together. This year, they still have tons of talent, but very little consistency. They should be a lot of fun to watch.
