I have an interview coming and he is supposed to send me some signing day photos as well. I really like this kid- I think Baylor fans will really come to appreciate what he brings to the table. Here's a link to an old interview we did with him.
Chery talks about his commitment to Baylor
photo of Kenny Chery signing today
I hear Iesha smalls is in as well
good news on both accounts- difference makers!
I'm very impressed with Kenny and very grateful to have him in the family. Kenny will have some pieces to work with if CJ and Austin return. Maybe he can help inspire those around him to apply themselves to a plan for improvement this offseason. CJ , Rico, and Kenny are a very solid core. How the others dedicate themselves will determine our ceiling.
Smalls entire school came in to watch her sign. Pretty cool.
Our ceiling is largely determined by our limitations at SG. Heslip/Franklin aren't the answer and will keep our ceiling lower than we'd like. Hard work and dedication won't fix our lack of talent at that position.
Clavine its obvious that SG is our weakness. Winners, competitors, and leaders, through determination, creativity, and work find ways to win. Ish, Rico, Prince, and Bello to name a few can make themselves into players that creat lineups and rotations that dramatically limit the minutes of heslip and Franklin. It's about finding ways to score more points than the opponent.
Basketball note: @EHoopsShowcase: Interest from Kentucky is picking up. Calipari will be out to see Leron Black during live period.
Here we go again...
still waiting on his answers to my questions back but saw this interview
If he shoots 45% from three for BU....
His answers are great- article coming later tonight
That's inspirational and all, but none of those flowery ideas will make Heslip or Franklin quick enough to be a threat off the dribble or to create their own opportunities from the arc. Determination and creativity won't cure Bello's skillet hands and god-awful shooting mechanics.
Ish will be good and Rico will be very valuable if he can finish around the rim and improve his FT shooting. But, SG situation won't improve with determination and creativity...we need better players.
Would someone please buy an extra copy of Matt Sayman's "The Leftovers" and hand deliver it to Heslip? I might be wrong, but I don't feel like Brady has been as committed to maximizing his conditioning and athleticism and his commitment to "the team" as Matt seemed to be. The Big XII was a stronger league when Matt was playing than it is right now, and Matt met the challenge pretty darn well.
