Apparently a fertilizer plant blew. The explosion was reported by numerous people in the southern metroplex.
Looking for pics now. Prayers please. Twitter is reporting a lot of injuries and houses damaged.
^^^ "southern metroplex?" where?
not good- could be some really bad air for a while and just terrible for those near this plant.
West, Texas near Waco
My parents didn't even hear it.
people on twitter are claiming a few cars got blown off the road.
Careflight just flew over my parents house.
It's back by the KOA Campground.
Hillsboro or Whitney?
If it's anything like the rumors, this is horrible. T&P Bears
Doesn't seem like the national news outlets know how bad this may be.
Listening to the police scanner. Brush fires are spreading towards houses and they have 8-12 helicopters at the football stadium or on their way to it. Not good. Praying
That's of a different explosion.
Sorry, someone delete it please. Can't do it from my phone
Actually, that photo was reportedly taken from Arlington and is of this explosion.
LRABear is correct. That photo is of the ALON refinery explosion in Big Spring several years ago. Amazingly, no fatalities and no serious injuries. Concussion was felt 60 miles away.
No, that's definitely from the Big Spring explosion. Photo was taken from top of Scenic Mountain (a mesa State Park in Big Spring).
oh god...nursing home collapsed
It was a couple blocks away. My niece goes to school not far from the plant either.
Not good at all.
Dallas news outlets are reporting 4 to 5 blocks of homes have been completely destroyed.
Damn. That was huge. Not good at all. Said so many injured that State Troopers were just loading the injured into their cars and transporting them rather than wait for paramedics.
Someone on KWTX was told by a JP between 60-70 fatalities.
Please keep posting these updates. Thank you all. How terrible.
