This is not for the meek, but is an alternative travel option as a cost efficient measure.
I would be in for doing this or something similar as long as it's cost effective.
Please keep in mind, this is done with very little research and should be considered a maximum cost as far as travel is concerned.
This trip would be leaving Waco 24 Dec, arriving in San Diego no later than 26 Dec, departing San Diego 29 Dec, arriving in Waco 30 Dec.
15 Person passenger van rental with insurance: $950
Gas: 3400 miles @ 15 MPG @ $3.50 per gallon: $800
Total straight through drive cost split between 10 people: $175.00 per person
Out of 10 people, if 5 could drive 5 hours max each way, we are there and back with a relatively easy drive for everyone.
Having researched tickets (with a little inside info) and hotels (mid-grade and average at best), I found this:
Tickets: Plaza level about the goal line, Baylor side: $115 each
Hotels: $52 dollars per night per person with 2 splitting cost on each room for 5 nights....$260 per person
Total cost summary per person:
Travel Round Trip $175
Total for both $550
Travel only is an option and food, beverages, etc. are on the individual.
If I get 10 committed and paid for, we'll do it.
Post here with questions or if interested.

ask Brian about those pooled vehicle rides to sporting events. I've been told he captained a pretty slick trip to Omaha once.
I love the theory. I am from Los Angeles, so I can make Waco to LA in 19 hours, straight through. San Diego is slightly easier, so if you have 4 good drivers, you should be able to run on smokey and get there pretty quick. Recommend a Christmas night take off.

My only problem with Xmas night is it doesn't leave much time for any glitches.
I don't have an issue leaving Xmas, but it would have to be by noon or so because I have other things in the works like a...you guessed it...Tailgate!
I need to be in San Diego and settled in by noon on the 26th.
Basically just trying to offer an option because I see a lot of talk about costs.
I'll be there one way or the other and if not enough interest, I'll just get 4 in one of our vehicles and the cost will be essentially the same with a little bit longer driving involved.
Just thought a group road trip might be cool, but I understand the timing is about as bad as it gets.
I'm open to ideas and suggestions, so keep them coming.

I remember waking up in a church parking lot looking at Rebel_T snoring on the other couch.
Well, that's a nice visual...thanks for your input, lol.
I'd do it again tomorrow, but can't this time. I've got all kinds of vacation time and no time to take it.
