Awesome stuff. Randy is the man! Really like the multiple shots zoomed in to see more. Good to see that the Island is just about gone. Looks like we're about to really start seeing progress on the bridges.
Two of the places I lived at while in Waco are now gone - Williamsburg Condos and Island Condos. Of course, in the early 90s, the Island Condos weren't so bad, but Williamsburg was just plain nasty!
I had some good times at the 2nd floor corner unit at the island...
Williamsburg? Were those torn down for Truett? Or were those the ones on Bagby?
I remember The Island Condos were a pretty decent place to live when I was in school. They started to fade the last decade.
Pro Ecclesia, Pro Mundus
I had a good friend that lived over there and when we got off work late on the weekends we'd each grab a 12 pack, gather up all the loose driving range balls, and use the pool as our green. It was tough hitting out of that grass 8 beers in out of a backyard. Pitching wedge was all that was needed, but ever so often an attempt at driving the river was undertaken. Never made it across.
I'm not sure what's in place of Williamsburg, but it was behind the 7th and James area.
OK, yeah. Right now it's just the staging area for the new East Village.
23 months to go
Thanks for the pics, sure will be fun to watch it go up
Randy took another one for me after I asked about the crane lining up on the barge.
I had no idea the river was deep enough to accommodate a barge of that size. Anyone know the approximate depth at that point?
Barges don't draw much draft, but I'd bet it's at least 3m throughout Lake Brazos.
30+ in the middle in parts.
and anytime it is near a bridge it usually is deep due to the currents creating depth
Anything from this week? Also, you guys who know people in the AD can tell them I'm ready for my webcam.
Is Randy still taking daily photos? Things look like they're really picking up there but you can't see much detail on the TXDOT camera. Would be awesome to see some high-res photos or if Baylor would put up a dedicated camera instead of piggybacking off the TXDOT cam.
He has one today. I'll see if I can get it.
... it's just the sky reflecting
Anyone know if the construction is still on pace to get em done in time to open '14 season in it?
Haven't heard otherwise.
Thanks, Brian. Did you post this most recent picture differently than the older ones? The older ones were much higher resolution. I know, beggars can't be choosers...
