Got to go to the game, meet Brittney, coach M. and other players and coaches. Everyone was absolutely first class and very easy to be proud of. My first experience around the lady bears in years and it was terrific. Now, I really hate ND so I'm probably biased but I thought their fan base was awful. Lots of smugness and typical nasty comments about Brittney. Really did nothing to raise my opinion of them.
Diggins is a myth. She disappears in big games .Notre Dame ladies don't have enough heighth to advance in April. #2 seed at best in March.
...and this was one of the best crews in the women's game.
Sims >> Diggins
ESPN keeps hyping three players to watch, BG, Delle-Donne, Higgins, they've got to stop leaving O out.
In the post game presser, Mulkey went out of her way to make the point Sims is the best pg in the country. Went as far as to say she has gone head to head with Diggins 4 times and has won all 4 games. Thought that was interesting, even for Mulkey. Her stabs are usually a tad more subtle, but she just laid that out there for everyone. I love Sims and the toughness she brings to the court. Diggins gets a lot of attention, not only for her ability on the court, but for her looks, IMO. Whether that's fair or not, it is what it is. She is a beautiful young woman. TV likes pretty women.
You gotta love Kim sticking up for her players. Diggins is a great player, but as I've said before elsewhere, every time Odyssey is on the court, she is the baddest badass on that court. There is no better defender in college WBB, in my opinion, and her offense takes a lot of pressure off of Griner.
I have watched a lot of basketball and I am not sure that I have ever seen a fiercer, more effective on-the-ball defender than Odyssey Sims, man or woman. She is absolutely relentless, and I am sure that other players hate to line up against her. She turns the ball over too much at times at the offensive end, but she usually more than compensates at the other end of the floor. She puts enormous pressure on the opponent at both ends, whether on defense or offense, and we usually see her make most of her points in the second half, when she has worn the opponents down and just imposes her will on them. Next year, without Griner, she will get her due -- and it will be a very interesting year.

For Dorris Burke to call her the Toughest SOB on the court in every game she plays shows respect is going to her.
Kim's postgame comments surely ruffled some feathers but amongst them was "she has player her 4 times and won straight up every time" which was an answer to her own question of "what does she have to do to get respect".
Sims is underrated and not in the discussions often enough because we, rightly, rely so heavily on Griner.
An AA not getting respect
Diggins is photogenic, at Notre Dame during an up cycle there and playing in the Big East, and is, oh by the way, a very talented player. No disparagement of her to point out that Sims is just downright better in face to face confrontations.
Somehow Doris Burke and Rebecca Lobo slipped that screen
But they do give us Carolyn Peck.
Peck is such a goddess that even a 5'8" old geezer can still imagine it happenin' with her 6'4".
Lobo's 6'4" on the otherhand scare that kind of imaginin right outta me! And at my age, "imaginin" is often the best and only option. But I'd still run from Lobo.
