Who do we "want" to win based off matchups?
I would assume Robert Morris based on KenPom and RPI but does anyone have any idea what they like to hang their hat on and who matches up better with us?
Robert Morris for sure- very weak inside. Providence has good talent and matches up well against us.
And for the other half of our bracket... BYU, Mercer, LaTech, or USM?
In order to be the 69th best, you've got to be the 70th best. Bring on the 70th!

this may have been a joke, but anyone who doesn't think that we were AT LEAST one of the 65 best teams in the country is completely out of their mind. we did not make the NCAA tourney b/c we didn't win enough games under the current system, but we're easily better than probably 10-15 teams that DID make it into the field.
also, if a tournament, like the NIT, is going to give us the opportunity to play more games, then hell, we may as well just win them!
Well, to be fair, the NCAA by definition isn't the 65 best. It's the conference champs and then the best of the rest. Of the at-large teams, which are we better than? The selections were correct and fair; even the big name schools like Kentucky weren't given preferential treatment.
what's your point? I even said "under the current system" we didn't win enough games. I also didn't say ANYTHING about being better than "at large" teams, i just said 10-15 of the "teams". i'm sure though, that we're as good or better than some of the at large teams.
my point was that the winner of the NIT isn't automatically the 65th, 69th, or +1 over however many the hell teams the NCAA tourney has in it these days. it drives me nuts to hear people say that, even if Baylor isn't even in the NIT field.
you're right though, we weren't screwed, or anything of the sort, by not being included in the NCAA tourney field. we made our own bed, and I've got no problem with us being left out. however, i didn't ever say that i was upset about being left out.
I'll make it.
