Sam Holl on his way to a #PR on the 40 (4.49)!

  • Reese's numbers should go way up this year as he won't have to wait on some of those deep balls to get there. (this is not a shot at Nick in any way) Any QB we start next year will have a bigger arm.

I don't see Reece playing in the NFL. Just me, but his size makes it difficult to catch balls underneath or over the middle. I know my opinion won't be popular but just my thought. i think Sampson is a better pro prospect.

He's a tweener for position but small guys have done well the last few years which helps. He is also going to test off the charts. Im sure he will get picked up somewhere on measurables alone.

As to OU having 3 faster Im going to go with, um, no.

I see him as more of a Harvin type. Percy is only 5'11 184. I know Reese is smaller than that but he could get close to that size.

Wait and see how well Petty does. Nick was outstanding despite the arm strength issues. (which are WAYYYY overblown)

Terrance Parks had the strongest arm any of Morriss's staff had seen (and they coached Tim Couch who was a #1 overall pick at QB) but he was so bad that noodle armed Shawn Bell gave Wr's a better shot.

I agree with Mike Leach's qb criteria:

    ESSENTIALS:
    1- Accurate
    2- Good Decisions
    3- Quick release
4- Good feet (how he sets up for the throw and moves within the pocket to buy time while allowing for a quality throw)

IF YOU CAN GET ALL THAT... NICE TO HAVES:
    5- Stronger than normal arm
    6- Dangerous runner

Petty has #5 and is an ok runner. I am worried more about 1-4 as they will determine our offense's fate and the numbers T-Reese will put up.

  • If Petty doesnt have 1-4 then he wont be playing and we will be watching Seth Russell. Interestingly though I think our bowl game offered a lot of insight as to what we might see next year. If you cant throw well you can always run it up and down the field.

If he ran a 4.5 that is great. He ran 4.7-4.8 as a soph at an NUC combine so I always wondered about his true speed.

You can watch him separate on game film.

Good points. I agree. My gut says that the starter, whoever it is, will be average / above average in 1-4 and have the "nice to haves" also. I personally think Russell is our starter.

He will have a combine better then Travis Benjamin from Miami and get drafted around the same area as him also.

Yes good game and pad speed

  • Is the fact that Holl ran a 4.49 not surprising to anyone else?

If Holl can break 4.5, surely Terrance Williams will at the combine.

  • Tevin will be a late round guy most likely. He isn't consistent catching it and there are questions as to how effectively he can beat the jam of physical NFL guys who can run with him.

If he's more reliable catching it he could do well though.

Terrance will go under 4.5 at the combine.

If our timing is as strict as theirs. Some guys play better than they time though. Larry Fitzgerald comes to mind.

Also the guy from Hebron says TCU just got a LSU transfer that's from Hebron and plays corner. He said the kid is a beast. Anybody know anything about that?

Also my boss is a Sooner says OU has three guys faster then Reese. I laughed in his face. They might have one in Trey Franks and thats a big maybe

But what made that running game possible was the threat of the pass, UCLA did'nt want to give up big plays.

I'm optimistic Petty will be the guy, if not I trust Briles to find someone who will be effective.

  • Reese may be fast but his routes over the middle... yikes. He loves that slant route then volleyball set the ball into the air.

Worked for K. Wright vs OU tho!

  • From his comments on twitter, Glasco must not have gotten the results he expected today. Neither did Petty, apparently.

Who cares? We need to time Glasco's 40 after he blows up a tackling dummy 5 yards into a carry.
