Great read on Petty

I just can't agree to disagree on this. He has the measurables covered as we discussed. But when it came full speed scrimmage he looked lost out there. Only a few first downs and a few dropped picks. Yes-he is going to be a good Baylor quarterback I just can't see how you're already talking NFL with this kid if your watching these practices. Hopefully his decision making improves throughout spring and the rest of the off season. Not trying to start an argument, or say that Bryce is bad or be Mr. Negative, I just don't see him as lethal-right now. But possibly in the future. Depends on decision making, not his mesurables.

Justin, I appreciate and enjoy your posts. This is the first I have read of Bryce struggling in the live scrimmages?

  • Just in this past live scrimmage. He was "sacked" about 4-6 times by indecision, bad decisions on deep balls and hesitation. Nothing that some film study shouldn't clear up, but I just can't get on the "Bryce is on his way to the league train" yet.. He is very good in all the drills and even one on ones, but struggled at last scrimmage. Made some pretty throws, but just don't want to crown Bryce the king yet, that is all!

Players are all itching to get back on the field.

2014 LB Jamie Jacobs from Midway will be at practice tomorrow btw guys. He is a stud.

  • He also has a bad tendency to pump multiple times, but like I said earlier-nothing that film study with Kendall and Art shouldn't be able to fix.

  • My hope is that he has a solid year for us, then has a great year his "senior" season. Now if he wants to have two great years, that'd be cool too.

  • Just some food for thought here, that pertains abit to this discussion.

I see the offense eating up alot of the passing yards of last 2 seasons, AND CLOCK, with the 2 super stud RBs running game next season. I see about a 250/250 in run yds/pass yds. 250 pass yds won't sit well with crowds used to 350+ passing yds. Will get alot of first downs but that won't settle our intellectually challenged football fan natives. More time for scoring drives so less offensive plays while still dominating defenses again. Hence, I see the commentators on TV, and many here perhaps, assuming Petty just doesn't, "measure up," to record pass gamers RG3 n Nick, just so the uneducated commentators on TV can fill their dry time. Then, after Glasco and probably Seastrunk depart after next season Petty will move back to more of a passing attack in 2014 and be worshipped near and far as RG3 and Nick were.

Only skrew factor I see in above paragraph is if a much improved nasty defense begins to get the 3 and outs we could ALL only hope for? pacman

UCLA game could be a preview of what we'll see next yr with a dominant offensive line leading way for the RBS more and more as a game wears on the opposing defensive linemen. UT fans would probably love to have next yrs Baylor offense as they live and breathe and go see games for a dominating run attack!

I just see this as almost inevitable, and it just may not be as much of a highlite reel for the recievers so Petty might take some heat for that perhaps?

  • We are fortunate that Briles knows exactly how to put Bryce in situations to gain his confidence and be successful....we have more weapons offensively than maybe ever and all he needs to do is put them in the right positions
