Cherish Wallace? She is on scholarship (student assistant) but injuries ended her playing career.

    Cherish Wallace.

She's a senior who played as a freshman, and was uber-quick. She had a stress fracture in her lower leg, and after missing most of a season, had a rod placed in the leg, but it never fully healed, and she was placed on a medical leave scholarship, and is a "student assistant". Her half sister is Morgan Medlock, who played for 2 years after transferring.

Coale gave another drive-by handshake, and I'm pretty sure she passed on shaking Griner's hand, too, although I may not have seen that correctly.

My gosh, our team is just getting better and better.

thanks, gotta be breaking Wallace girls heart to not be able to play!

  • I am just amazed at how Mulkey can get her players to give 110%. This is an extraordinarily great team. I think they are the only ones that could stand in their way to a title.

On a side note, I like "octopus defense" the commentators came up with. Both of those women were great players on great teams, and even they are just speechless sometimes at Griner and the Lady Bears.

  • Coale is adept at keeping her front line players in to fatten up their stats against reserves. Hand got a lot of her points during garbage time against our end-of bench players late in the game.

  • I think Mulkey gets 110% out of her players because they know they will sit on the bench if they (1) don't go all out in practice and (2) don't play D and rebound during game. No discussion..no questions asked.

They are playing at a different level right now. I am still a little unsure how the loss last season to A&M will impact us mentally against them...if at all....but we will know soon enough.

A&M will try to slow down the game and turn it ugly with hopes of frustrating Griner on floor and Mulkey on the side. I think we will be just fine. Sat night will be fun...already a sell out.

  • I think KM gets 110% out of her players because they bought into that philosophy when recruited and the type of student-athletes she recruits is reflective of the type of dedication to basketball, academics and being responsible in their daily lives. It isn't something magic, its very basic for people of character and we are fortunate to have a coach who stresses all of these functions as a complete person. The question and general responses may seem like a simplistic thing, but it is much larger and at a much higher level.

Not one of these players wants to disappoint their coach, their teammates or themselves. This is called dedication and personal responsibility.

Don't know if Mulk would call Coale "adept" at all

I'd call Coale more of a bottomfeeder imo

I don't know if I'd pull my starters if the other coach of a strong Big 12 team didn't agree to do same! Bet that crossed Mulk's mind too, and this is just a symptom of the problem tween Mulk and Coale
