  • Offseason Uni thread...why not!

@OurDailyBears: Like @BUFootball's uniforms now? Well it looks like they're about to get that much better for 2013. #SicEm http://t.co/vJa8LfOm

  • It means that we'll have a lot more options in everything from unis to sideline gear to fan apparel. We'll also have more opportunities for more customized uni options designed by Nike

    What do it mean?

to me, it basically means we'll get better treatment from Nike, and we'll get to pick from their more recent stuff and possibly get some special designs of our own. i'd guess that we'd probably be in play for ProCombat stuff also, but i know little to none about Nike's "tier" system, so that's just a plain guess on my part.

Even though so many of our alumni will throw hissy fits about any changes from our traditional look that doesn't include putting the Bear Paws back on the shoulders (i think this is a terrible look by the way, and those are the unis i grew up with), this is nothing but an overwhelmingly positive thing for Baylor and our football program.

  • I still don't know why we can't go with faux fur all over.

  • I welcome it. I prefer Nike apparel but Adidas shoes.

I can name some Nike schools that got the Pro-Combat stuff in 2009 and 2010. I did not see any in 2011 or 2012. Some of the traditional teams had very minor changes that could barely be seen.

    TCU
    Ohio State
    Oregon
    USC
Colorado (used to be big-time NIKE)
    TCU
    Texas
    Florida
    FSU
    Miami
    Georgia
    Bama
    LSU
    UNC
    VT
    Penn State
    Boise State

Isn't Oklahoma State on that list also?

Maybe. I was just listing out who usually gets special uni's made or who had pro-combat that I could think of.

this is what i was afraid of when this was announced. as a Baylor fan, you should be excited about this news because it is HUGE for our program. if NIke is going to put more support behind our program, then it will greatly increase our exposure, which is a great thing for Baylor.

yeah, you may not like whatever new uni combos we get, but that's like being pissed off that someone gave you a new Porshe b/c you don't like the color of the spedometer needle.

At the very least it's a great sign for the status of the program and its national perception. Why are some fans so desperate to be a Debbie Downer?

  • It's a really big deal. Like HUGE deal. I know that for some people uniforms matter and they will not like this at all...but the kids we are recruiting will love it and that is what's important.

I would gripe about a Porshe all day long.

Ryan is exactly right. This is a GREAT thing for Baylor football. Kids make up a football program and they want to go play at an exciting place that has cool "stuff" and gets exposure. Baylor is/and will continue to be that place and Nike doing this just accentuates that point.

Also, i'm sure there will be some uni combos and new uni/sideline gear additions that i won't like at all, but i'm not gonna let that blind me to the fact that this is a fantastic thing for our program and university.

POR-SHA not POR-SHHH. I never understood why it is so complex for people. And the font and script are TMed, whomever used the crest is in violation.
