OT: Legal Advice, Representing Yourself

I will be making a claim against a dealership for misrepresenting the truck I purchased, violating the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. I have talked to several attorneys in Waco, but they say I have a valid claim but it is too small for them to take it on a contingency basis. Not wanting to spend $10,000 paying out of my pocket, I am thinking of representing myself in my demand letter and subsequent lawsuit.
Would you ever represent yourself in a case?

Why not just get them to take it hourly and just put in writing that their work will not go over a certain dollar amount without your consent?

It has LTZ badges.
I don't have any friends or family members that have an LTZ truck, so I never knew it.
It has leather. No heated seats. It has the regular truck dash, whereas an LTZ has the same as a Tahoe/Surburban.
So basically, someone took a highly optioned LT added aftermarket woodgrain interior overlays and LTZ badges. The dealer I bought it from still says it is an LTZ even after I gave them the build sheet.

Tell you what PM me with the VIN and I will make some calls for you on Monday, I am 5 minutes from GM Lordstown and a good chunk of my clients are execs there. I can probably get a broadcast sheet for the truck and at least give you the ammo you need to deal with the guy who sold you the truck. Barring that I might have a friend or two who can contact GM in Detroit on your behalf. I am off tomorrow but I can work on it some Monday. If you are not comfortable giving me the VIN you can contact Brian E, the mod, he is a personal friend and will vouch that I am legit and not trying to steal your truck online :D

random and likely unnecessary observation...and likely corny, but this threat reminds me how much I love Baylor (and how glad I am to be away from a certain message board full of cynicism)
someone posed a great question, got great advice and an offer from a fellow Bear for help. I doubt few if any of you know one another...but are all working to help a fellow Bear out.

You are right. I went through a very difficult time recently, and a fellow Bear, Florida Mike, was able to help walk me through it because he had been through it before. Never met face to face, but hope to one day. This is definitely not like most boards.

In all seriousness, I like the Baylor family too.
And Nein is legit. In a sort non legitimate way. He does know lots about cars though.
A similar situation has happened to me twice before. One involved a Camaro that had been "badged" with IROC-Z stickers and such. Turned out to be a regular V-8 Camaro. Second was a jeep that was advertised to have anti-lock brakes. It didn't. In both cases the dealer refunded my money and took the vehicles back when the issues were brought to their attention. Both were GM dealers. Keep working it, I'll bet you get satisfaction eventually.
