Fans of nearly every other school are really invested in the prospect of him leaving Baylor. Every time his name comes up, they assure you he will leave. They want it so bad they can taste it. They have watched as other Baylor sports have become entreched at the top of the league and then the top of the NCAA. They desparatly want that to be short circuited. Andy doubt they can sew in our minds or our recruits minds is a plus to them. If football does what WBB and MBB have done that changes the whole dynamic of the Big 12. Baylor with power on top of our political power and power in the courthouse is scary. Don't get me wrong, Texas is Texas and OU is OU, that won't change. What does change is the amount of pressure on coaches and administrators. Briles scares those people.
Just some random musings of a deluded Baylor fan.
Just curious what kind of political power you speak of? I really don't know. Thought we lost a few during the last round of elections. Who from BU is currently in the Texas house?
And, I've always dreamed of Baylor being the next Miami/Oregon/etc, it's so close. Just get that stadium built and hope that Briles coaches until he's 80.
The political power is not overt but it is there. Larry Scott of the Pac whatever said after his failed attempt to raid the Big 12 that he underestimated Baylor. Lots of civic leaders, school administrators, hospital leaders and doctors. Tons of lawyers, judges, pastors, councilors. When all of those get motivated on Baylor's behalf it is real power.
