Paul Finebaum left RG3 off Heisman Ballot

  • I guess he really is "SEC Guy." Unbelievable.

    @finebaum Finebaum Network
    Much heat leaving RG3 off my Heisman ballot. Nice player- but SEC defenses would have eaten him alive. Haters get a clue.

    Too bad they are unwilling to schedule us in a bowl.

    outside of Alabama, LSU, and maybe Georgia, who in the SEC really has an elite defense (i'd quantify this as as good or better than UT's)?

    the SEC is an extremely top-heavy conference this year. the 3 at the top are REALLY good, but the rest are meh.

  • $EC people are morons - they sought out aggy after all

    what a bunch of idiots

  • What a douche. Geno Smith threw for 463 yds on LSU. I think Griffin would have done just fine.

  • SEC = shitty offenses, not necessarily great defense.

    it's kind of a little of both, and the same goes for the Big 12, as far as the good offenses vs bad defenses argument. as far as we're concerned this year though,, picking apart TCU's, OU's, and UT's (K-State's D wasn't half bad either) defenses proves that our offense was just REALLY good, and we'd have success against just about anyone.

    all-in-all though, i think that some of the defenses in the SEC benefit from the mediocre offenses in that league.

  • I think LSU is on a level above bama, who is a level and a half above Georgia. Okie lite (because of their prolific offense) should be placed in between the tijers and tide. But the convoluted and biased votinh actions will make it tough to get in edgewise. With Meyer now aboard at Ohio st., the eastern block of voters will return again to cutting them all the slack in the world.

  • Gundy said he would like the opportunity to settle it on the field - (Big XII v. SEC); guess the pollsters decided otherwise. WakeMeWhenItsOver Bowl: lsu v bama

  • Jason white (former OU quarterback) also left RG3 off. Had Weeden as his #3. Calls him the best QB in the Big XII.

    Jason White. Has there been a more forgettable Heisman Trophy winner?

    @finebaum
    Finebaum Network For the lame critics of my Heisman ballot, just admit- Baylor would finish 6-6 in SEC West. RG3 would be watching the ceremony on tv.

  • Finebaum is pretty smart when it comes to playing to his constituency. He has for years fed the moronic Bama t shirt fans with bs. What's sad is that this guy has somehow gotten his little regional show to be carried nationally. Everything he says is simply said to appeal to those people who worship him. Bama fans are the worst of the worst, all the sense of superiority and entitlement as Texas fans, but with the added crassness, absurdity, and stupidity we see in Aggys.

    I responded to him, I'm sure I'll get some sarcastic response.

    Literally half the teams in the SEC this year are 6-6 or worse. Five of those 6 had two or fewer conference wins.

    Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, and USC are good to great. Everyone else is mediocre to bad.

    According to Sagarin Baylor would be favored against:

    Arkansas (Home)
    South Carolina (Home, Neutral)
    Georgia (Home, Neutral)
    Miss St (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Florida (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Auburn (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Vanderbilt (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Tennessee (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Kentucky (Home, Neutral, Away)
    Ole Miss (Home, Neutral, Away)

    So for example if we had LSU's schedule counting Georgia as a "conference game at a neutral site, and keeping our actual non-conference schedule, Sagarin predicts we would have went 10-2.

    Maybe that's overly optimistic, but 6-6 is absurd. But using objective criteria Finebaum is full of it.

    I also responded to him and directed him to Forde's column. No response.

    I did this as well via twitter...no response. I don't always like Forde, but he surely took and objective open-minded look at it and came to a rational decision.
