  • I tried to just add material from our conversation that Smoaky didn't cover. Matt should be joining us on the site. If you have questions for him, post them and I'm sure he will do his best to answer.

  • Great job Ashley! I didn't know he was up here in McKinney.

  • Thanks Ashley. I listened to Matt with Smoaky today. Smoaky gave you a shout out for putting him on to Matt. I think to a very large degree the measure of what we would want a Baylor man to be, is embodied in those guys who stayed and bore the brunt of something they had no part in creating. I am proud that they are a part of the Good Old Baylor Line.

  • I want to thank Ashley Hodge for giving me the opportunity to be part of Bears Truth. Getting "The Leftovers" together has been an amazing journey. With Coach Drew's involvement, as well as my fellow 2003-04 teammates, our story has really come together. I never realized what we did meant so much to people until I was about two years into this process. Thank you all so much for your support. I am hoping for "The Leftovers" to release in April. Let's get a win tonight vs. Long Beach St. Go Bears!!

  • Welcome aboard Matt!

Are you self-publishing or did you sell to a publishing house?

Matt- thanks for dropping by. I hope you are a regular contributor to all things basketball and anything else you want to post about. Your perspective as a coach and player will always be welcomed. I know many on this board will buy your book and do what we can to help you promote it.

Long time ago, but you were kind to my son one summer when he was at a Baylor basketball camp, and I still appreciate that. (We were actually down there the day that Bliss didn't show up to greet the campers...apparently the day he found out Dennehy was missing.)

I always had a question that have never heard asked or answered, that perhaps you can: Why did Logan Kosmalski transfer to Davidson? I know that his brother had played there, but he seemed to be a great fit for Baylor, and had a pretty darn good year before he transferred. (I remember the charges he took in game at the Big XII tourney that helped us win.) I always wondered if he sensed there was something wrong with the program/Bliss which led him to want to leave?

  • Logan was the perfect fit for Baylor. But like most of us, we wanted to be a big part of something great. When Lawrence Roberts came in, who was clearly a future NBA guy, Logan's time diminished. It was a hard decision for him to make and hard to watch him go. Ultimately, he made the best decision for himself, and had an awesome career at Davidson!

  • Thank you, I am self-publishing through Xulon. They have been awesome so far and I am really excited for our story to be released.

Thanks Matt. My wife just published her first traditional book and I'll get with her on helping you get the word out to groups she has worked with.

That makes sense, but I still hated to see him go. I guess he avoided alot of the heartache that you went through with the program.

Didn't you guys play AAU together? Do you still keep in touch at all?

(By the way, like the other guys, I can't wait for your book, either.)

Man, I almost hate to ask this question, but do you know if it will be released in an e-reader or Kindle form? I have always been a pretty voracious reader, but since my wife got me a kindle, I've hit over-drive (3-6 books a month). It's great.

I'll buy a copy no matter what, Matt. And I'll probably buy both forms, to be honest. Just curious.

I remember you from school and we even played a few pick-up games at the SLC just after you graduated and were playing in Finland. I was always so proud of you for staying and playing your heart out. I was a poor scholarship kid from 800+ miles away and I didn't know a soul when I showed up on Baylor's campus.

Sports, for the longest time, was the only thing that really seemed familiar or home-ish, so I started going to every game. (Plus, they were free.)

So anyway, I've been a huge fan of Baylor teams, and I just wanted to thank-you for always doing us proud. I never left a game feeling ashamed, no matter what the score. Thanks and good luck.

Looking back, I wanted him to stay and finish with me. We ended up having a VERY different college experience. We played for the Fort Worth Lions together before our senior years in HS. Still keep in touch. Logan is working and coaching with an AAU program in North Carolina.
    Thank you for your support.

That really means a lot. I feel it was one of those rare examples where success wasn't wrapped up in wins and losses. We were successful that year by continuing to show up and give max effort. It was difficult at that moment to realize it, but luckily we had great coaches to push us. TL will be available on Kindle. I don't mind how people read about our little team of leftovers. Just proud to be a part of it.
