Go take a look at the K-state film and start smiling. He is solidly built and I believe he'll be a solid blocker but it was not the key to his production for us.

To take full advantage of Wright's talents, Locker needs to be able to catch passes over the middle. Wright may even be your 3rd string QB in a pinch.

...and he's a pretty good receiver.

To this day, Kendall Wright's JR year (HS) basketball highlight video is the best I've ever seen. He is a winner and a freakish athlete.

I said this exact same thing to my buddy the other day and then busted this video out on my phone because he didn't believe me. My buddy is a hs bball coach and was amazed. I still love watching that video every once in a while.

Kendall was a year behind me in school and I watched him drop 50 points in a middle school basketball game as a 7th grader.

Talked with a middle school coach of his the other day and he said that Kendall could have gone either way after middle school, but chose to work hard and keep himself in line.

This coach eventually moved to Gilmer where they have put D1 players out every year and he said Kendall was a better athlete than players like Manuel Johnson and Stephen Hodge who both made NFL rosters.

Somebody for the Titans should arrange for a dunk expo by KW... it's really just remarkable. Guy is one of the purest athletes I've ever seen. He could never have walked into a weight room in college and still made an NFL roster.

He also possesses the rarest of traits in athletes... the elusive "playmaker" trait. He just has an immeasurable ability to do indescribable things at critical moments. He'll make incredible catches, or make a simple catch and then make an incredible move on a defender, or he'll just end up in the right place at the right time... and he did that time after time after time in his 4 years at Baylor. He obviously has RG3 to thank for a lot of his crazy career stats at Baylor... but IMO RG3 should thank Kendall for bailing him out or extending lots of stats for RG3 (Griffin threw lots of very basic screen, flat, or hitch passes to Wright that turned into 15 yard+ gains).

Thats funny you mentioned that, because just from watching a handful of highlights videos, that really stood out to me. He just seems so elated out there, I see a lot of energy and toughness.

Wright has better acceleration than any WR in the draft, though not the straight line speed of some. He is deadly in space. As has mentioned, he had great hands his frosh year than got some dropsies when RGIII went down. Those were completely gone his senior year. Hasn't been mentioned, but the guy is also very durable (knock on wood). He played through a lot injuries his senior year that would have sidelined a lot of guys.

A knock on him - Sometimes a three yard completion is just a three yard completion. In college he could turn those into seven yard completions by reversing field, going backwards, and creating a circus. In the NFL moves like that will turn into a 2 yard loss. In the NFL he will have to stay disciplined in making the catch and getting up field even it is for minimal gain.

Kendall Wright plays each down like his hair is on fire. He plays harder than anyone else on the field. Briles said yesterday he plays with more passion than any other player he has ever coached. He plays like he thinks he is the best player on the field and some times he was even with RGIII. His short area quickness makes him hard to cover off the line. That is why you see him catching so many slant type patterns. He is almost violent in his change of direction. This season when they lined him up outside on plays, so that it was harder to double him, the CBs could not cover him. He is short (5-10.25) but he is stout. He is completely fearless and will go over the middle. He played with an ankle sprain all season long but never missed a game.

He ran a 4.41-4.46 at pro day but like Terrance Ganaway he probably can run that in full pads. He did not get caught all year unless the player was already behind him. You watch that Oklahoma game where he killed but he also had an 80 yarder get called back due to a BS arm out hold on the LT. Baylor no huddled and ran deep all day long. That is how you know the body fat thing was not correct. You could not be out of shape to play in this offense. TCU, OU, UT all tried to man cover him being arrogant and he took them deep.

Go youtube his HS basketball highlights to see what type of athlete. Even at his size he can dunk on people. He was on the Baylor basketball team as a freshman.

He was a HS QB and he can throw the football.

His type of game will be ready to go day one.

That catch against tech at the end of that half was one of the most awesome things I had seen on a football field. Nothing really spectacular in that it wasn't a one-handed catch or some acrobatic feat like flipping over into the endzone, but it was just impressive. He's 5'10 and in the middle of a crowd of defenders out-jumps them all to pull down the ball. So very impressive.

His highlights against KSU were unreal. Griffin overshadowed him nationally but in the league and certainly at Baylor people were very well aware of him and his abilities.

Also, the guy is a monster competitor. I remember going to a practice before the start of his freshman season (2008), and they ran a running play to his side, and this little freshman slot receiver saw a linebacker coming in to make a play and he just threw himself into the backer and just knocked the guy out of the play. One of those huge blocks with a loud POP that made everyone gasp and cringe then cheer. Wright popped back up and everyone gave him an ovation.

You've got a competitor and a freak athlete.

One of my complaints with him was that he always wanted to make more out of a play than was there and thus would dance around so much in the hopes of finding an opening that he usually just allowed the defenders time to get to him sometimes for losses.

However, his senior year you could see he worked on his discipline in that area. He more looked to make the most out of each play than trying to make a highlight play. You watch his highlights this year and when he makes his moves to extend plays he's making smart moves and decisions. Even when there was nothing left to gain and he was about to be tackled, he'd still dive and reach for those last few yards.

Oh and he has great hands despite what people say about his hands size.

Dude is a football player to his core.

We are going to miss him a lot.
