Tyus Jones

  • What are the Baylor fans opinions on their chances with Tyus Jones?

  • Ian- purely an opinion. If Baylor can get him to visit, they always have a decent shot. The campus looks great; the women are beautiful and the weather is warm. There is a connection on staff to him- a coach from Minnesota who is related to him in some way (I think I have that right).

But elite recruits like this are always tough to pull out of the region, so you would think a team like Michigan State who has had so much success will be tough to beat in a recruiting battle. And Baylor is going after Emmanuel Mudiay who is right in our backyard and also a top 5 point guard prospect for 2014.

So what i am getting from your comment is that you feel Michigan State and Baylor are the top two? which wouldnt be unusual because many think that. You also mention Emmanuel Mudiay do you think that hurts the chances or not? and for Michigan State they have Jahlil Okafor on the radar also Cliff Alexander and Jaquan Lyle this could hurt or help the chances on getting Tyus but im just not so sure.

  • Minnesota is in a strong position too from what I can gather. With a big season next year tubby could pull in jones and/or rashsad vaughn.

As Ashley stated, it seems that we do have some good connections there in Minnesota. I've heard Baylor mentioned for both. A final 4 would help a lot I think.

Next season is huge for Minnesota. They badly need a good season or it may be another rebuild. They just got a new AD.

  • I don't think Jones has a firm list at this point. He is a 2014 kid who has skyrocketed since April.

  • i mean 2014 isnt that young anymore, they are about to be juniors!

  • Duke also offered Jones really early compared to normal Duke recruits. Coach K will be tough to beat for this one.

I like our chances at being in the top 4-5 schools for him. But I also think a lot of it is going to do with how the 2013 class shakes out. If BU lands the Harrisons then I don't know how that effects BU's strategy with him or Jones's thoughts on BU.

Im still not convinced Andrew Harrison is a 1 year player if he doesn't improve his shot.

  • Speaking of Duke, BU 2013 SF recruit Semi Ojeleye picked up a Duke offer on his visit today.
