Why Try Bearstruth?

  • A quick business update for our subscribers. Brian and I started this site 8/11/11. It has been an exciting year to be a Baylor fan. We want to say thank you to everyone who subscribes! Those of you that know us know that we bleed green and gold or black and electricity. We want to see Baylor coverage continue to grow. We also want to see the Baylor community/family become more unified. Winning helps. We currently have 409 subscribers. We have brought on Colt Barber and Brenden Padilla to help us with coverage. If we get to 600, we will add another reporter.

    Please use this thread as a place where those who are kicking the tires on bearstruth can come and learn why this site is worth subscribing to. Many of you have subscriptions to other Baylor sites and we fully support that. I subscribe to all of them and I have noticed the quality of coverage has improved across the board as bearstruth has entered the market. We want to be the best and we will work hard to set the standard for Baylor sports coverage. Some of the things that Brian and I have discussed that we plan on implementing over the summer is creating a free business directory to help promote Baylor people using Baylor people when needs arise. We also want to be more deliberate in our tailgating plans as we get closer to football season.

    Some things worth emphasizing

    1 - The 247Sports Network

    Most of us care about Baylor above other schools but the 247Sports team has impressed me with their vision and commitment. They are spending time and money to build out the recruiting database. They are working hard to add team sites- have added schools like Clemson and Colorado recently. I know they have other Big12 sites in their crosshairs and hopefully within the next year- we will have a site for every Big12 school that is vibrant. They are making important hires of national and regional reporters to compete on the highest level with other recruiting sites. Text alerts are coming soon. Some new hires for improving coverage are coming soon. Coverage is improving fast and the folks that run 247Sports are aggressive and hungry. They won't stop until they dominate the market. I think you will continue to see a better product as time goes on.

    2 - Access to Moderators

    Anyone can drop a bit of information on the message board and then leave for the day, but Brian, Colt, Brenden and I are constantly on the message boards interacting and answering questions. We're here to answer recruiting questions, team questions and we have a wealth of knowledgeable posters about Baylor and as you have seen lots of general information topics.

    While we're honoring subscriptions to other Baylor sites, we hope you'll give us a chance to prove why our site is both great on its own, or a tremendous addition to subscriptions you may already have.

  • You guys have done a great job and it's been nice to meet some of the guys behind the cryptic message board names. Not too many other places where you can eat Chipotle with one of the moderators and discuss your Baylor fandom. Keep up the good work fellas. If you ever need close air support, give me a call.

  • I did not know Ashley or Brian before they launched this site, so my perspective is strictly as an unbiased Baylor fan. I have been on all the Baylor sites, but this site has far and away exceeded my expectations.

  • I've been a member of every Baylor pay site available, from rivals to scout to the smaller sites like Bearscoop and short-lived elitepreps. None approach the level of quality and consistency that bearstruth has reached in less than a year. It's remarkable.

    If you are going to pay for access to a Baylor site, there are certainly some good ones out there, but bearstruth should be stop #1.

  • I'll admit that I joined initially for the info on the realignment mess...which was only a week ago or so. I figured that I would quit when the free trial was up but the past few days have changed my mind. The ability to get quality coverage without the overload of bs that the free sites offer makes Bears Truth well worth the money spent for access. Keep up the great work!

  • Two reasons to join:

    1. It sounds cheesy, but it really is a vibrant community. The mods support people bringing their own information, and there is significant yet not hateful discussion.
    2. I can't think of a time when someone asked a question of the mods and they weren't already online and answered the question in a matter of minutes. They're also very upfront about non-BearsTruth commitments (e.g. work) but make sure that they don't jeopardize BT's ability to be the best information source.

    As others have mentioned, I've got subscriptions other places but I find this to be the best site to visit for the scoop and the back-story. I'm looking forward to the 247 network building out a bit, but that's part of becoming the best.

  • I will admit to being a Baylor Sports Junkie. I belong to pay sites going back to "Bear's Den" days. I have known Ashley for that long or longer. This site is my favorite one for the information I get and the cordial tone the moderators foster. If you want to be "inside" on Baylor Sports this site is worth the small cost.

BearsTruth does the jitterbug while other sites stumble through the Charleston. The Truth is the truth, if you will. Unless you're just a complete idiot poster from one of the free sites. In that case, the Truth is lame and you should probably just stay put at whatever cesspool you currently post at.

  • I'm a big fan and others have mostly covered it. The iPhone portal rocks. The discussion is very good over here. Only a few of the good baylorfans posters do not come over here. I enjoy Patrick McHorn, but for each one like him there are 100 trolls from other schools that make that site less enjoyable.

    Bears Truth has been "plumb loverly" as baylordan would say. I was on Scoop with the guys before but knew when they set out to make a national site like this, it would be great. I even got titleist and a couple others to join and they're hooked.

    It's a no brainer for any Baylor fan that wants a rivals kind of site. It kicks rivals ass as far as I'm concerned.

  • As you can see, I rarely post, but I get on this site nearly every evening. I went to Baylor and live in Aggieland. This site has been a welcome relief over the past few months of realignment. Most recently I've enjoyed Ashley's MBB articles. Keep up the good work. Thanks for putting together such a good site.

  • The reason to join is that this is the premier Baylor Sports forum. If you are all about content quality you have come to the right place. Great moderators and great members (though I do think less of any group that would have me as a member). There are a lot of places to get your Baylor Sports news but this one is, far and away, the best.

    What it needs is more people to join, even if they only join for free. Tweet about it, FB about it...but whatever you do, tell people about it. We dont want this site going away or becoming irrelevant like so many other Baylor pay sites.

  • Great site! There are very few fights between members. The moderators really know there stuff as do the posters.
